Property players look beyond homeownership in Budget 2027 wish list (The Edge City & Country)

In The Edge Malaysia, Matrix Concepts’ Co-CEO of Property Development and Commercial, Chai Keng Wai, outlines several priorities for Malaysia’s upcoming Budget 2027, focusing on improving housing accessibility, streamlining development processes and strengthening long-term sustainability.

  • Expand housing financing support: Extend the benefits of the Skim Jaminan Kredit Perumahan (SJKP) beyond first-time homebuyers to include people upgrading their homes and empty nesters whose housing needs are changing.

  • Promote transit-oriented developments (TODs): Combine public transport access with senior-friendly homes, healthcare, essential services and community facilities.

  • Improve development efficiency: Streamline planning, approval, construction and infrastructure delivery to reduce delays and improve cost certainty.
  • Align ESG regulations: Coordinate sustainability policies and requirements to reduce implementation and compliance costs while keeping homes affordable.

Also, upcoming senior care centre in Bandar Sri Sendayan, developed through a joint venture with Alpro Group and Mercy Senior Care Centre, as an example of responding to the evolving needs of its communities.
